BarnHill Station to Middle Lagoon

Alan,Geoff and Faye Lennon, Nick me and Wendy at Barnhill

Day 98
We decide that as we have lost too much time in Karratha and there are lots more places to see, we reluctantly pack up and say good bye and head north to Broome. It has changed quite a bit since we were here about 12 years ago with more shops and people and we are not even going to venture to Cable Beach or Roebuck Bay today so imagine they will have changed a lot too. One advantage though is that we were able to get a decent coffee at one of the cafes in town!! We get a few more groceries and we are heading up the Dampier Peninsula for a few days. The road starts with about 100km of sandy corrugated road which takes us over 2 hours then a nice bitumen road till we get to the turn off for Middle Lagoon which is owned by one of the Aboriginal communities. We have heard it is lovely to stay there so make the 40km sandy rough road drive to a lovely camp ground very spread out and with nice shady trees and we are lucky to get a spot for a couple of nights after someone didn’t turn up!! It is only a couple hundred metres to beautiful beaches so I am very excited! It’s also a good fishing spot so you never know those lines of ours just might get wet!!!
