King Edward River

Our camp site at King Edward River
Our "bath spot" at King Edward River

Day 108

We get an early start and head north about 100km before turning towards Mitchell Falls. Again, the road is patchy but only takes about 2 and half hours with a morning tea stop. We turn off on the Mitchell Falls road and it’s only 7km to King Edward River ( camp no 2) and, if it’s nice we are going to stay 3 nights here and drive without trailer to the Falls and Kalumburu as both roads are supposed to be pretty rough. After “me” driving through the King Edward River and the deepest crossing we have done this trip (Al was very jealous......but secretly impressed) we get to the lovely camp spot and besides one other camper we get to choose any site we want beside the beautiful river. We find a picturesque spot and set up camp and not long after we are surrounded by lots of others!! We think we have the best spot, but as we had gotten going early this morning it really did pay off this time. We are not sure if the river is safe to swim but after we see the tour bus people jump in we think unless the bus co. wants to get rid of a few annoying passengers it must be ok to swim. It is glorious in and we enjoy a peaceful afternoon in beautiful surrounds. We have collected firewood so will be lovely to have a campfire and barbq tonight.
