Staircase to the Moon

Camel sunset tour on Cable Beach

Sunset on Cable Beach me,Murray,Maree,Nick,Wendy,Alan and Lucy

Day 102
We decide on a bike ride around the town. It’s all very flat around here so the only drawback is a little breeze. We check out the museum and Roebuck Bay and spend the arvo catching up on chores. Alan’s brother-in-law’s brother and wife Murray and Maree from Nerang are travelling around oz and we arrange to meet them and Wendy and Nick and Lucy for sunset drinks on Cable Beach. We have a lovely time chatting about our travels and almost miss the sunset, even with all the activity of many others enjoying the moment as well as 3 lines of camels and their excited riders passing by. It was dark by the time we said our goodbyes and Al and I went to Town Beach to try and catch the monthly phenomenon of Staircase to the Moon which happens for 3 evenings each month between June and October when the full moon rises over the mud flats of Roebuck bay. There were many many people also witnessing the magical event and we only stayed for a short time before heading back to camp.
