Gorgeous Gorge swimming

The unique telephone box at Drysdale River Station

Galban's Gorge

Day 107
We get an early start and after the 1 and half hour drive back out to the Gibb River rd we only have to drive a short distance to Adcock’s Gorge. Although a bit rocky and rough to get in, it is only 5km so make the effort to discover a lovely little gorge and nice swimming pool. I take the plunge but Alan is going to wait till the next gorge. After smoko we get to Galvan’s gorge which is only 1km walk from the rd so we head in there and enjoy another beautiful swim in what we think is probably one of the prettiest swimming pools we have seen. A stop at Mt. Barnett roadhouse for fuel and we drive the next 110km before the Kalumburu turn off then it’s only 59km to Drysdale River Station where we will stay tonight. The road varies between nice smooth gravel to very corrugated....to very rough and rocky. We just have to take it steady with the trailer as we watch lots of non towing vehicles speed by throwing up much dust. We arrive at D.River and a large area for camping and bar and restaurant, fuel and a small shop as well as a large vehicle repair workshop which I’m sure gets lots of customers. With plenty of water here we are able to wash clothes and have a shower, a luxury out here that we take for granted at home.
