Busselton and Rockingham

Carole and John Huitson's home in Busselton

Day 54
We head off to Busselton and call in to meet and have a coffee and lovely homemade scones, with Carole and John Huitson, in-laws of my friend at home, Lisa. We are going to meet up with Lisa and her family in Darwin at the end of July so it was nice to meet Carole and John, a delightful couple. They invite us to stay and park our camper in their enormous back yard( they could open a caravan park here and has green grass too!!) but we have a game of golf planned tomorrow early near Mandurah so we reluctantly keep travelling north. Stopped for lunch at Bunbury, a picnic on the waterfront, it is another glorious day bu. A swim would be lovely..... but we want to find somewhere to stay so keep moving north. We have a couple of options and Mandurah first with several caravan parks but we don’t particularly like the look of any of them. Mandurah is a sprawling town with lots of new waterfront development, and suppose the price of land prevents them from putting caravan parks in any of the nicer areas. We decide to try Rockingham further north and at this stage it’s getting late and we decide on a park here. It’s also not in a pick place (we have been very spoiled up to now with lovely beachy spots) but clean amenities and reasonably quiet. We think we will have to settle for these things as our new criteria when choosing a caravan park while around these outer city limits!
