Good Friday in Kalgoorlie

Day43

I’m a bit dopey this morning after taking some medication last night for my condition. Alan says this is normal!! After brekkie we head up to the lookout of the Super Pit, which is the biggest open cut gold mine in the World?? Apparently Alan Bond was responsible for amalgamating all the old mine leases in the 80’s and developed this enormous mine. The viewing platform gives a fantastic 360 degree view of the working mine, the huge trucks looking like matchbox toys!! After a walk around the deserted town, looking at the many old buildings from the gold mining era of the late 1800’s ,we spent the rest of the day at the caravan park making use of the swimming pool. Wendy and Nick arrived about 3pm and are staying at a park nearby. We ride our bikes to visit them about 5pm then back to our park to enjoy a fish dinner and watch the lovely clear evening sky.
