Camping on The Nullarbor

Day 37
Still no sign of Thelma (or her family). We pack everything back in the car and hope that Thelma has decided that Fowler’s Bay will be her new home!! Decide to do a drive to a rocky headland nearby before we hook up the trailers/caravan as it requires a bit of sand driving and despite never having driven in this terrain before, Nick handles it all flawlessly. We head off to Head of Bight about 80km away. Wendy and Nick encounter a bit of a problem with their van when trying to overtake a long road train and Wendy drove expertly to avoid a catastrophe. When we got to Head of Bight the delayed shock and the sight of broken glasses and food strewn around the van, and the reality of what had happened hit Wendy. They decide that they will take it a little slower for this part of the trip!! We continue on with the roadhouses at intervals and a few scenic spots in between. We find a rest stop to camp and decide to have a fire. It is a little cool but not too bad but this is the first opportunity to have a fire since we left home. The rest stop is quite dirty so not an enjoyable place to camp. There are no toilets here and people just leave all their rubbish and toilet paper which scatters over the whole area!! Quite disgusting!!
